Formula & assumptions

Square fees use published rates: US (Square Free) in-person 2.6% + 15¢, online 3.3% + 30¢; AU in-person 1.6%, online 2.2% (sellers signed up from 30 May 2024). Source: squareup.com/us/en/payments/our-fees and squareup.com/au/en/pricing.

Transactions = volume ÷ average ticket. Interchange-plus = volume × (blended interchange % + processor markup %) + transactions × per-transaction fee.

Assumptions you control: blended interchange (default 1.9% US is a rough mixed debit/credit card-present estimate; AU interchange is far lower, try 0.5–0.8%), markup, software subscription and hardware costs. Toast and Lightspeed do not publish one fixed rate, so enter the numbers from your own quote. Hardware is straight-line amortised over the months you set. Early-termination fees, chargebacks, PCI fees and tax are not included.

Neither vendor publishes a menu sync speed, so be wary of any review that quotes one. Deliverect suits chains that need an audit trail and POS-driven menus; Otter suits smaller operators who want published add-on prices and one vendor for tablets, printers and orders.

How we compared them

We read Deliverect’s pricing page and help centre articles on operation reports and snoozing, and Otter’s order aggregation plan-details page, on 4 November 2026. We have not timed menu pushes on either platform. Delivery apps also take time to process updates on their side, which neither vendor controls.

What each vendor documents about sync

The practical takeaway: when you 86 an item, snooze it in Deliverect itself, not only on the POS. If the push shows “queued” during a dinner rush, it may take up to half an hour before the apps even receive it, so pause the store or the item directly in the delivery app if it matters right now.

Deliverect does not list prices. It says cost depends on location, scale, number of locations and product (Restaurants, Retail, Direct or Dispatch).

Which to pick

  • Deliverect if you run several locations, your menu lives in the POS, and you need logs showing who pushed what and when.
  • Otter if you are one or a few sites, possibly with virtual brands, and you want to know most costs up front.
  • If you sell direct as well as through the apps, compare ChowNow vs Square Online for zero-commission ordering. For outage planning, see POS offline mode limits.

FAQ

How long does a Deliverect menu update take to reach Uber Eats or DoorDash?+

Deliverect does not publish a standard time. Its help centre says a menu push may stay queued for up to 30 minutes when there is unusually high push volume, and you can check each push's status under Operations.

How much does Otter cost?+

Otter's order aggregation plan-details page lists add-ons such as Point of Sale for +US$19/month, extra virtual brands at US$20/brand/month, online ordering at US$55/month and KDS at US$15/month per device. The base Lite and Standard prices are not on that page.

Does snoozing on my POS update Deliverect channels?+

Not automatically. Deliverect says if an item is snoozed on the POS you must run a product sync and then publish the menu. Snoozing inside Deliverect applies across channels that support it.
